Teen drivers typically pay more for car insurance since they have limited experience behind the wheel. However, drivers that choose State Farm may see rates that are below the national average. Female teen drivers save about 40% when compared to the national average. Male teen drivers typically save about 35%. If you have a teen driver on your policy, it’s also a good idea to consider USAA and Geico, both of which offer competitive rates.

On average, drivers in this category pay 22% to 24% less than the national average.

State Farm moves up in this category, cinching the No. 2 spot for lowest rates after a speeding ticket. Its average rate is nearly $500 lower than the national average. Only USAA, which is only available to members of the military community, has lower rates.

Generally, drivers who fit into this category can expect rates that are 30% lower than the national average. DUIs can lead to significant rate increases, but drivers who have one on their record may be able to find some savings with State Farm. Its rates for drivers with DUIs are the lowest among the insurers we analyzed. On average, drivers in this group see rates that are nearly 70% lower than the national average. American Family’s rates are only $44 higher than State Farms, making it another insurer worth considering.

Like a speeding ticket or at-fault accident, a poor credit history often leads to higher car insurance premiums. State Farm may have competitive rates in other categories we analyzed, but that’s not the case for drivers with poor credit. State Farm’s average rates are 33% more than the national average and the second-highest among the insurers we analyzed. USAA, Geico, and Nationwide have the lowest rates.

Based on our data, State Farm has the third-lowest minimum coverage rates, beating the national average by more than $260 a year. USAA and Geico are first and second, respectively, for the year.

State Farm Customer Service

State Firm ranks 2nd among our best for customer service subscribing. Based on the results of our customer survey, State Firm scored 4.35 out of 5. Ninety-nine percent of State Firm customers who have not filed a claim say they are satisfied with the ease of communication with customer service and the service they have received. Customers who submitted a claim received a similar response, although the satisfaction rate dropped slightly to 56%.

State Firm is ranked 5th in our Best for Claim Handling category, scoring 4.2 out of 5. About 56% of state firm customers say they are completely satisfied with the ease of claiming. About 55% of customers say they are completely satisfied with how the company has resolved their claim. Although state firm scores are generally above average, less than half of those surveyed say they are satisfied with the communication they have had during their claims experience.
